June 30, 2012
The Herald-Star

Anna Taylor, a 9-year-old student at Pugliese West Elementary School, won the Cleveland Indians Team Championship in her age group in the Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition at Progressive Field. There were 240 winners nationwide as each Major League team held a competition in four age groups - 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. Unfortunately, Taylor was not one of the 24 finalists recently named for the national competition, which will take place during the MLB All-Star Week in Kansas City, MO. The competition will take place on July 9, prior to Gatorade All-Star Workout Day, on the field at Kauffman Stadium. More than 685,000 youth participated in over 4,000 competitions that took place across North America. For the third year in a row, a nationwide girls softball division was part of the program which allowed girls to compete and advance separately from the boys throughout the competition.
