To the editor:
I fell in love with Steubenville.
Being a devoted fan of Dean Martin for 50 years, when I discovered the Dean Martin Festival, I knew I had to visit Steubenville to refresh my excitement and love for Dino.
Along with my husband, Al, and our friends Omero and Esther, we headed for Steubenville. Little did we know what was awaiting us. We found the Spot Bar, and when we walked in, we thought, "What's this?" Not two minutes later we were warmly greeted by Joe Elias. He took us under his wing and introduced us to everyone. All were gracious and friendly, from the mayor to the sheriff and everyone else in between. The committee members were very helpful, truly making our visit pleasurable, supplying us with information and directions to the events and attractions of Steubenville.
Needless to say, we enjoyed the great entertainment in addition to the ambiance of all the local population. The whole weekend was far beyond our expectations. The warmth of everyone and the devotion to Dean is refreshing to all of us who still adore him.
I felt like I was 15 again, reviving my Dino mania and walking the same streets he walked. Now I have much more - Steubenville mania. To all those whom we met, you are all special people. We salute all of you for a memorable visit.
We will see you next year. You demonstrated to us that "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime."
