Bridge to close on Friday

STEUBENVILLE - The Market Street Bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday to allow streets crews to rotomill, resurface and restripe the Ohio approach to the bridge.

Motorists are advised to use the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

The West Virginia Division of Highways said inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project.

Mingo Junction Police probe incidents

MINGO JUNCTION - Village Police are investigating reports of rocks being thrown onto state Route 7 and hitting vehicles.

Police Chief Steve Maguschak said the department had received three complaints of rocks hitting vehicles traveling state Route 7 Saturday from a set of steps near Logan Avenue and the state highway.

Witnesses reported seeing a group of juveniles fleeing the scene, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol found landscaping rocks near the incident.

Maguschak said the department received another complaint of a vehicle traveling on Route 7 being hit by a rock early Tuesday morning near Murdock Avenue. The chief said police interviewed surrounding residents and other witnesses, and the incidents are under investigation.

Shelter available for rentals

BEECH BOTTOM - The shelter at Beech Bottom's Third Street Playground is available to rent for birthday parties, reunions and other occasions.

The cost is $25 for nonresidents, while there's no cost for Beech Bottom residents.

Rentals can be made by calling the Beech Bottom Municipal Building at (304) 394-5545 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Rentals will be made on a first-come first-served basis, with no refunds for cancelations.

Grass clippings accepted

FOLLANSBEE - Beginning Monday, the city's sanitation crews will pick up grass clippings on the same day as residents' garbage collection.
