Crossroads fathers, daughters celebrate

June 23, 2012
The Herald-Star

More than 40 daughters of all ages celebrated an evening with their fathers June 16 at Crossroads Christian Church in Wintersville.

The church served as host to the event designed "to remind families of the important role a father plays in his daughter's life."

The event included keepsake photos, a dinner, promenade and a dance.

The fathers also prepared letters to their daughters, detailing their love and support. The daughters likewise had the opportunity to tell their fathers how important they are.

"We really just wanted to celebrate this special relationship," said the Rev. Jeff Greco, the church's pastor. "It is vitally important for girls to have a strong relationship with their father, mirroring the relationship of Jesus and our heavenly father."

The idea originated with the Men's Challenge group at Crossroads wanting to do something special for Father's Day.

The church's women's ministry provided the decorations and food. Teens and leaders from student ministries served as waiters.

Event planners hope to extend the event to the entire community.
