Post 33 tops Post 740
EAST SPRINGFIELD - The Steubenville Post 33 Legion baseball team picked up a 12-6 win at Richmond Post 740 Wednesday.
JoJo Pierro had a monster game at the plate with two singles, a double, a home run and four RBIs for Post 33. Justin Corsi added two singles, a double and three RBIs with Bryan Pierro contributing two singles and two RBIs. Chris Murphy picked up the win after entering in relief in the third inning.
Ty Yocum knocked in three runs on a single, double, and triple for Richmond. Chad Wickham added two singles and an RBI.
Richmond hosts Weirton at 6 p.m. today while Steubenville begins play in the Chillicothe Tournament with Toledo at 3:30 p.m. at V.A. Memorial Stadium and Mentor at 6 p.m. at Unioto High School.

Local teams in Wheeling tourney
WHEELING - A basketball festival will be held Saturday and Sunday as the 20th annual Wheeling Recreation Girls' High School Shootout gets under way.
A total of 80 games will be played over the two days, with teams from four states competing in four different pool divisions.
Representing Ohio are Bellaire, Bridgeport, Cleveland Select, St. Clairsville and St. John Central. Maryland is represented by Sorelle's, while Pennsylvania teams include Ringgold and Upper St. Clair. West Virginia has teams from John Marshall, Linsly, North Marion, University, Weir, Weirton Madonna, Wheeling Central and Wheeling Park entered.
All contests will be played at the Linsly School's four courts: Main Court, Tartan Court, Old Gym (upstairs) and Paul Gym (small gym up the road).
All teams are guaranteed to play at least five games.
