FLINN, George O., 79, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
George was born June 28, 1932 in New Cumberland, OH, son of the late Herman Flinn and Irene (Walters) Hamilton.
George was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Steubenville, OH. He was retired from Weirton Steel Corp., where he worked as a welder.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country in the Korean War with the 25th Division Photo Section.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. (Straker) Flinn, who passed away in 1997.
George is survived by his daughter, Karen (Hank) Babel of Tucson, AZ; his grandchildren, Tina (Tod) Burchfield of Steubenville, OH, Hank E. (Bobbi) Babel of Amsterdam, OH, and Joe L. (Kirsten) Babel of Tucson, AZ; his great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Ava, Kiley and Joe Henry "LJ"; his sister, Irene Cain of Moundsville, WV; and his companion, JoAnn Calderwood of Steubenville, OH.
Visitation for George will be held on Wednesday, June 20 from 4-8 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, where his funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Timothy Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, OH, where full military graveside honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion Post 86.
