A grant from the Mary Jane Brooks Charitable Trust recently was presented to the Children's Dyslexia Center Inc. of Steubenville. The grant will improve the center's services to its children by ensuring that the latest and best equipment, materials and technology for teaching are available to the students, according to a center spokesman.
"The center provides the highest quality multisensory reading and written language tutorial services for children with dyslexia, according to the spokesman. Since the center's inception, nearly 50 children have graduated from the two-year program at a cost of $10,000 each. This service is a Sottish Rite, Masonic and community partnership provided free of charge to the families.
On hand for the grant presentation were Harold W. Cook, board member; Lawrence Cullifer, chairman of the dyslexia board; Nicole Brown, center director; Jason B. Foreman, board member; Joanne Ransom, retired director; and R. Peterson Chalfant, Mary Jane Brooks Charitable Trust trustee.
Also serving with Chalfant on the trust are Edward M. George and David E. D'Anniballe.
Donations to the Children's Dyslexia Center Inc. of Steubenville are tax-deductible and always welcomed, the spokesman said.
