Church offers summer day camp

FOLLANSBEE - The Kids With Spirit group will offer a summer day camp for children in kindergarten through fifth grade from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays from June 20 through Aug. 22. The free camp will include dinner, games, a Bible story and other fun activities. It is sponsored by the Follansbee Presbyterian Church.

5K run-walk scheduled for July 4

WELLSBURG - The city's Independence Day festivities will include a 5K run-walk from the Wellsburg Town Square at 9 a.m. July 4.

Participants may register at 8 a.m., but there is a $2 discount on the $10 registration fee for those who register by July 1. T-shirts will go to the first 75 runners or walkers who register.

Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female runners and walkers in several age categories.

Program aimed at older adults

WHEELING - Beginning June 28, West Liberty University will be offering summer courses on a variety of subjects and aimed at older adults through its Community University program this summer at its Highlands Center.

The cost is $25 for each participant, who may enroll in as many courses as he or she chooses. Subjects include genealogy, motorcycling, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Web applications for novices, life after retirement and several others.

WVU athletic director to speak

FOLLANSBEE - Oliver Luck, West Virginia University's athletic director, will be the guest speaker at the Follansbee Community Days Dinner July 11 at St. Francis Centre.

Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 5 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Follansbee City Building.

Free movie at Follansbee Park

FOLLANSBEE - The children's film, "A Turtle's Tale," will be shown at 8:30 p.m. June 23 at the gazebo at Follansbee Park.

Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets to the free screening. Popcorn will be served.
