The annual 4-H Canine Day, sponsored by Hounds Haven Inc. animal shelter, will be held Saturday at Friendship Park in Smithfield.
The free event is open to any area 4-H member with an interest in dogs.
Participants will be given professional training in canine obedience and showmanship, as well as grooming and tips for showing their dogs. Activities begin at 10 a.m. with lunch provided. The day wraps up with "a friendly dog show competition" complete with trophies, ribbons and door prizes.
