Bell Chapel having

strawberry festival

Bell Chapel United Methodist Church at 3419 state Route 213, Steubenville, is having a first-time strawberry festival organized by its United Methodist Men.

It will be held at the church on June 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

In addition to a variety of strawberry dishes, the menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs and hot turkey sandwiches. Cost is by donation.

Patrons can dine in or get takeout orders. For phone orders call (740) 283-2239.

The group's officers are Delbert Furbee, president; Joe Ross, vice president; Lee McBurney, treasurer; and Butch Corby, secretary.

The churches of the Burgettstown Area Ministerium will hold the 2012 baccalaureate worship service at the Harmon Creek Community Church, 1080 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, Pa., on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Follwing the worship hour, a reception honoring the graduates will follow in the fellowship hall. All 2012 area graduates, their families and the community are invited to attend.

Members of the Class of 2012 will participate along with local clergy in leading the service. Graduates should meet at the church at 6:45 p.m., with their cap and gown, to line up for the opening procession.

Finley UMC to hold youth revival

Finley United Methodist Church, 958 Lincoln Ave, Steubenville, will hold its annual youth revival Sunday through Wednesday to the theme of "Youth Revolution 2012."

There will be Sunday morning services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the church with all evening services outdoors under a tent at 7 p.m. at the church's ministry center at 128 Raynes Road in Mingo Junction.

The youth evangelist will be the Rev. Aaron Duvall, who is the campus pastor at Ohio Christian University. Duvall has preached at Finley for the "Youth Revolution 2010" and has served at Ohio youth camps and Hollow Rock camp meetings as well.

The worship leaders will be "Reliant," a summer ministry team from Asbury University.

A love offering will be taken for the evangelist and worship leaders.

New Somerset Church plans sale

New Somerset Christian Church, 12052 state route 213, New Somerset, will hold its annual yard sale June 8 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Lunch will be available, and there also will be a bake sale.

Annual festival at Irondale church

The Irondale United Methodist Church will hold its annual strawberry festival from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The menu includes grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, pasta, macaroni, potato salad and broccoli salad, baked beans and strawberry desserts.

Donations will be accepted.

One-day VBS at

Colliers church

The Colliers Way Church of Christ, 612 Colliers Way, Weirton, across from Weirton Medical Center will host a one-day Vacation Bible School on June 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for children of the community.

The theme for the school will be "A Mother and Her Child" focusing on the life of Mary and Jesus.

The day's activities will conclude with a family picnic at 5:30 p.m. on the church grounds. There is no charge for the day. To enroll or for information, call the church office at (304) 723-5220.

Men of Destiny

to meet June 9

The Men of Destiny of the House of Faith, 1913 Estelle Ave., Steubenville, will meet at 9 a.m. June 9.

The nondenominational group is open to all men.

"Come and see how we can better our relationship with Christ, witness to others, help our neighbors, improve our community, build bonds of friendship with men inside and outside of our church with Christian fellowship," said Ron Boyuk, president.

Chicken blasts for summer begin

The Serbian Men's Club has kicked off its weekly summer chicken blasts.

Chickens will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Wednesday through August at the Serbian Picnic Grounds on Kings Creek Road.

Each chicken costs $6.50, and advance orders will be taken from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. They can be placed by calling (304) 748-9866.

Standing weekly orders will be accepted. Eat-in and take-out will be available.

The Serbian Women's Club will have ears of corn and haluski available for purchase.

New Cumberland

church plans VBS

The Free Methodist Church in New Cumberland will hold vacation Bible school from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m June 11-15 at the church located on Chester Street.

The event is open to children in preschool through sixth grade. This year's theme is "Sky" and will include songs, games and refreshments.

Sveta Petka Kolo

members meet

The Sveta Petka Kolo of Holy Resurrection's Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church met for lunch at Scaffidi's with 12 members attending.

Bess Simpson has assumed the duties of club historian.

The group voted to donated $50 to Urban Mission Ministries and made plans to make cabbage rolls for the church picnic to be held July 22 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds.

The next meeting is July 5 at Eat 'n Park. Plans will be finalized for the picnic with the other Orthodox women on July 25.
