Commemorative booklet planned

June 1, 2012
The Herald-Star

Another phase of the "Dean Martin Hometown Celebration Day" is the free commemorative booklet that will be distributed to the public during the celebration at various locations throughout the city. The booklet will consist of historic facts and tributes and also will give the locations of the events going on during the celebration.

The events committee has voted to donate $500 of the proceeds to Catholic Central High School Fine Arts Department and $500 to the Steubenville High School Fine Arts Department. "It is hoped that area businesses will support our young people through this effort," said Anita Jackson, one of the committee members.

The deadline to purchase ad space in the commemorative booklet is June 8. For information, call Jackson at (740) 284-5861 or Judy Bratten at (740) 283-1787. The donation to the area high schools does not replace the scholarship given by the committee, it was noted.

Going over booklet plans recently were Jerry Barilla, president of the board of Historic Fort Steuben; Bratten, executive director of Historic Fort Steuben; Jackson, director of community relations at the Franciscan University and ad project coordinator; and Rikki Kamarados, events committee member.

Ann Koon of Eastern Gateway Community College and Ron Salvino of Steubenville City Schools are designing the booklet.
