Members of the City of Weirton’s Relay for Life team gathered at Cove Commons to “Paint the Town Purple” in preparation for the Brooke-Hancock Relay for Life event set Saturday at Brooke High School’s Memorial Stadium. Preparing for the event are, from left, Tom Maher, Pam Fair, Renee Salkovik, Terry Weigel, Miki Marino, Patty Biondillo, City Manager Valerie Means, American Cancer Society community manager Della Serevicz, Brooke/Hancock Relay for Life co-chair Tammy Hornick, Kathy Cihota, Mayor George Kondik, Bertha Simich and Brenda Green. The event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday and concludes at 6 a.m. Sunday and will include live music, games for all ages and other activities for participants to enjoy when it’s not their turn to walk around the athletic track. - Angelina Dickson
