HUGHES, Patsy R., age 63, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away at her home Saturday, May 5, 2012, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 17, 1948, in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late William "Mack" and Clara B. Henderson Thompson.
Patsy was a member of the Steubenville Beagle Club and enjoyed running beagles in field trials. She also loved gardening and her flowers and was a 1967 graduate of Jefferson Union High School.
She had been employed at the Steel Valley Tank and Welding Company of Brilliant, Ohio.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Opal Johnson and Michelle Romaine Thompson; brother, Michael Robert Thompson and her special dog Baby.
Her survivors are: daughters, Carrie Ann Hughes of Toronto, Ohio, and Terri Sue (John) Falasca of Toronto, Ohio; granddaughters, Brianna Burruss and Jordan Hughes; brothers, William (Beverly) Thompson Jr. of Toronto, Ohio, Richard Edward (Fran) Thompson of Toronto, Ohio, and John Joseph (Beth) Thompson of Lexington, Ohio; companion, Lurk Hughes of Toronto, Ohio.
Friends and family will gather for visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday May 8 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto. 740-537-1234 or 1-855-847-1240.
A celebration service of Patsy's life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9 at the funeral home with her brother Ed Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery, County Road 68, near Empire, Ohio.
