Wildcats win 22nd

RICHMOND - The Edison baseball team rode the pitching of Nolan Marcus to record its 22nd win of the season, 2-0, Saturday at the Richmond/Edison Sports Complex at Jefferson Lake State Park.

Marcus struck out six and walked two. He also added two singles, as did Josh Pasek. Alec Jones delivered two singles and an RBI.

Edison will play Buckeye Local at 5 p.m. Thursday at Vaccaro Field in the Ohio Division II sectional tournament.

Edison downs Warriors

CARROLLTON - The Edison softball team scored four tines in the top of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie and then held on for a 7-5 victory over host Carrollton Friday evening.

Zoe Westfall, in relief of Mikayla Tice, earned the win.

Kayla Prokopakis delivered a double and single for an RBI. Molly McCoy added a triple and RBI and Kristin Prokopakis two singles.

SUA looking for umpires

STEUBENVILLE - An increase in demand means the Steubenville Umpires Association is looking for men and women who are interested in becoming umpires for the spring and summer baseball and softball seasons.

The association, one of the oldest officials' organizations in the state of Ohio, services baseball and fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball leagues from Avella to Jewett, and from Newell to Wellsburg.

Prospective umpires must be 16 or older.

Bears hoop boosters to meet

NEW MANCHESTER - The Oak Glen Boys Basketball Boosters will meet at 2 p.m. today in the multipurpose room at the high school. New head basketball coach Dave Smith and his staff will be introduced.

All parents and players in going into grades 9-12 who plan to be a part of the program are urged to attend.
