Shots fired into home

STEUBENVILLE - A house in the 900 block of North Sixth Street was hit with multiple gunshots around 2 a.m. today, City Police reported.

Officers were responding to the call of numerous shots fired when a resident came out of the residence saying her house "had been shot up."

Officers reported the residence was hit with 14 bullets.

Witnesses reported seeing three men on the railroad bridge firing shots and then running across the bridge to West Virginia.

Police reported this is the second time the victim's house had been hit with gunfire. The victim was living in the 500 block of Maxwell Avenue when that house was hit with shots on December 2007.

Wintersville water, finance meeting set

WINTERSVILLE - A Village Council Water and Finance committee meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the municipal building to discuss water usage and various finance issues.

Mothers' Day tea set for Saturday

STEUBENVILLE - The city parks and recreation department will host a Mothers' Day tea from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center.

Recreation Director Troy Kirkendall said the tea is free and open to all mothers and grandmothers.

The deadline for registering for the event is Friday.

Mud bog set for Saturday

SMITHFIELD - The Jefferson County Fair is holding its mud bog event Saturday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

The action will begin at noon. Refreshments will be available.

Persons interested in participating in the event are asked to be present an hour before to sign up.

Christian School open house set May 12

WINTERSVILLE - A "sneak peek" open house is planned from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 12 at the Jefferson County Christian School's new building located at 125 Fernwood Road.

Tours will be offered to the public, and those attending can view model classrooms, the curriculum preview and a student art show.

Refreshments and fellowship will be offered.
