Minnie Maragos

MARAGOS, Minnie C., 79, of Toronto, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at home.

She was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Luigi and Mary Mastros Bianchini. Minnie is also preceded in death by her husband; Teddy Maragos, infant twin daughters, two brothers, Louis and John Bianchini and two sisters, Gemma Tokarchik and Nancy Stupelli.

Minnie was the owner/ operator of the former Maragos Grocery Store, worked at the board of elections and was a former precinct committee woman.

Surviving are her son; Gus (Jan) Maragos of Columbus, her two daughters, Rosemary (Tom) Pifferetti of Bradenton, Fla., and Athena "Tina" (Erik) Van Dijk of Toronto, her brother, William "Beanie" Bianchini of Wintersville, and her sister, Claudia Clevenger of Wintersville; six grandchildren, Cara, Alexandra, Jordan, Nia, Niko and Eleni, two great-grandchildren, Teddy and Lilyana Rose.

Minnie was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and it's Philopticos Society, Holy Trinity Senior Citizens and also taught Sunday school.

Calling hours are today 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 300 South Fourth St., Steubenville.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery. There will be a Trisagion Service 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Holy Trinity or to Valley Hospice.
