Wildcats, Redskins continue to play well

TORONTO - The Indian Creek baseball team won for the sixth times in its last seven outings Friday with a 9-7 decision over Toronto at the Knight Baseball Complex.

Seth Wilson earned the win. He aided his mound cause at t he platew with a single and triple. Alex Youn added a single and triple and Jordan Yeater a double and triple.

Sammy Orr added a double for the Redskins, who scored five times in the top of the fifth inning for a 9-2 lead.

Tyler Owens delivered two singles and a double for the Red Knights. Austin Lucas added two singles, Spencer Sninchad two doubles and an RBI and Tyler Antinone two singles and two RBIs.

Wildcats blank Potters

RICHMOND - Nolan Marcus struck out nine and walked none Friday at the Richmond/Edison Athletic Complex at Jefferson Lake State Park as the Edison baseball team defeated East Liverpool, 11-0, in five innings.

Marcus added two singles and an RBI as the Wildcats raised their record to 18-2. Koby Sronce delivered a double, single and three RBIs, while Chad Wickham and Alec Jones each had a single and RBI.

Edison takes on Steubenville at 1:30 p.m. today at Vaccaro Field for the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Class 4A title.

Riders stop Edison

MARTINS FERRY - The Martins Ferry softball team scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game and added one in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat visiting Edison, 2-1, Friday.

Mikayla Tice took the loss. She fanned four and walked two, but was the victim of four errors. She allowed two singles.

Kristin Prokopakis had a single and double and Caitlin Brenstuhl two singles for the Wildcats.

Brooke sweeps Potters

WELLSBURG - The Brooke softball team swept visiting East Liverpool Friday, 8-0 and 4-3.

Kaylee Kuchinski struck out five in the four-inning Game 1 win. Brooke had eight hits, seven singles and a double by Jessica Kennedy.

Kristen Reardon grabbed the Game 2 victory. She fanned six and walked three. Sam Cusick led the offense with three singles. Cassi Camilletti added a double.

The Bruins will host Cambridge today for a noon doubleheader.

Bears defeat Big Red

STEUBENVILLE - Jordan Cunningham blasted a seventh-inning grand slam and earned the win in the circle as Oak Glen defeated host Steubenville Big Red 11-3 Friday at Jim Wood Park.

Shayni Vega added a solo blast and Marissa Murray and Mykelti McGaffic each tripled, as did Cunningham, in the 10-hit attack. Tia Smith added two doubles and a single.

Oak Glen scored seven times in the top of the seventh inning to break open a 4-0 game.

Carmie Biasi collected two singles and two RBIs for Big Red. Sierra Fields added two singles.
