Bears defeat Harrison Central

CADIZ - The Oak Glen baseball team traveled to Harrison Central and came away with a 13-7 win over the Huskies Wednesday.

Jeff Hissam connected for two triples, a single and drove in a run for the Golden Bears, with Vince Haddox, the game's winning pitcher, adding a triple, single and an RBI. Steven Barr chipped in with two singles and an RBI and Brandon Englehart had a double and an RBI.

Dalton Rutter and David Miser each had two singles and two RBIs for the Huskies. Rasheen Mitchell added a triple and an RBI with Kalub Mitchell pitching in a double and a single.

Toronto blanks Cadets

WHEELING - The Toronto softball team picked up a 3-0 win at the expense of homestanding Linsly Wednesday.

Cari Horne went the distance in the circle for the Red Knights, striking out nine and scattering five hits. Shane Sears and Mindy Meadows each had a double with Kayla Brown adding two singles.

Toronto (10-9) hosts Bridgeport today.

Brooke rallies

past Big Red

STEUBENVILLE - The Brooke softball team, down 5-2, scored 11 runs in the top of the sixth to propel itself to a 13-9 win over Big Red Wednesday at Jim Wood Park.

Jessica Kennedy ripped the cover off the ball with two triples, a single and two RBIs for the Bruins. Michaela Hinerman had three singles and drove in a run; Shannon Reardon had a single, double and an RBI; and Kelsey Welsh two singles and an RBI. Cassi Camilletti and Courtney Rine each had two RBIs, Camilletti with a double and Rine with a single.

Mytia Barker had two singles, a double and three RBIs for Big Red. Carmie Biasi had a single, double and two RBIs, with Anna Perrino and Shanna Roberts each adding a single and two RBIs. Sierra Fields reached base twice with singles as well.
