Gladys Cox

COX, Gladys Virginia, 95, of Weirton, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at her home.

Born Feb. 20, 1917, in Doddridge County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William Lewis and Lummie Jane Vanverth Cole.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Delmas Cox, on Dec. 18, 1998; son, David Nelson Cox; brothers, Edmund, Henry, Wilmer and William Cole; and sisters, Mamie Sperry, Charlotte Gum, Stella Mae Hall and Lisette Williams.

Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and a member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church. She also served as vice-regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Gladys is survived by her son, Richard Nelson Cox of Weirton; daughter, Sharon Lee Floyd and her husband, Jack, of Keyser, W.Va.; grandchildren, John Floyd, William Floyd and his wife, Sue, and Lisa Floyd; and great-grandchildren, Bill and Tom Floyd, and Jermy Johnson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, W.Va. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church. The Reverend William C. Stout will preside. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
