County Road 15 to be closed

RAYLAND - Warren Ridge Road-Smithfield-Rayland Road (county Road 15) will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Monday in a section, the Jefferson County Engineer's Department reported.

The road will be closed from Dallas Road (Wells Township Road 117) to Connorville Road (county Road 14) for a culvert replacement.

There will be no through traffic.

Toronto band concert Thursday

TORONTO - The city high school instrumental music department will present "An American Portrait" concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium.

Tickets can be purchased from any band member or at the door for $5. The band concert will feature music from American composers, patriotic music and music original to America. The sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade bands each will play three selections. The high school concert band will perform seven selections. The concert will conclude with a combined patriotic selection.

Buckeye negotiating committee to meet

DILLONVALE - The Buckeye Local Board of Education's negotiating committee will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the administrative offices for the purpose of mediation and negotiations with district employees.

Scrabble session set for Wednesday

STEUBENVILLE - Area Scrabble enthusiasts will gather Wednesday for their monthly game session in room 1506 at Eastern Gateway Community College.

Play time will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with newcomers welcome and encouraged to bring the board game if they have one. No fees are charged.

Bonus words will be words related to Mother's Day.
