TORONTO - Three individuals are in the Jefferson County jail today on drug-related charges after City Police served two arrest warrants Wednesday in a continuing investigation into prescription drug trafficking in the city.
Charges were filed by the Jefferson County prosecutor against Robert A. Ensell Jr., 27 of Apartment 24, 901 Bank Street, two counts felony trafficking in drugs within a 1,000 feet of a school and one count felony attempted trafficking in drugs; Arron M. Liddick, 29 of 1333 N. River Ave., two counts felony trafficking in drugs; and Ashley A. Berger, 27, also of 1333 N. River Ave., one count felony trafficking in drugs.
Capt. Rick Parker said the busts were part of the citywide sweep of known drug dealers in the city.
"We made controlled buys during the four-month investigation," said Parker. "This is all part of our continuing investigation into prescription drug trafficking in the city."
Parker added more arrests are possible in connection with the three arrests made Wednesday.
"Our investigation is continuing," said Parker. "We have said it time and time again it's not a matter of if you will get caught if you are dealing drugs, it's only a matter of when. All are being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond."
Parker added the Jefferson County Drug Task Force assisted in the investigation.
