New park sign

Steubenville officials on Wednesday unveiled a new entrance sign for Belleview Park. The sign was donated by 1st Ward Councilman Gerald DiLoreto and his sister, Eleanor DiLoreto, in memory of their father, John “Yok” DiLoreto. Gerald DiLoreto said his father was an original member of the Steubenville Umpires Association. The older DiLoreto started his umpiring career at Belleview Park in the early 1940s and continued his umpiring duties for 35 years. Taking part in the dedication ceremony were, from left, Recreation Director Troy Kirkendall, Councilman at large Kenny Davis, 4th Ward Councilwoman Angela Suggs, Eleanor DiLoreto, 1st Ward Councilman Gerald DiLoreto, 5th Ward Councilman Willie Paul, Parks and Recreation Board President Sandi Rue and 2nd Ward Councilman Rick Perkins. -Dave Gossett
