VANHORN, Oscea Madrid, 100, of Weirton, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Brightwood Center, Follansbee, W.Va.
She was born July 30, 1911, in Gilmer County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Otha Wade Blackshire and Jessie Linger Blackshire.
Mrs. VanHorn was preceded in death by her husband, Roland M. VanHorn on Aug. 16, 2000; her sister; Norma Collins, brothers; Golden and Otha Blackshire; and great- granddaughter, Heather VanHorn.
She was the last original charter member of Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are sons, Larry VanHorn (Mary Ellen), Lee VanHorn (Elaine), and Hoy VanHorn (Judith), all of Weirton; grandchildren, Jeff VanHorn, Jerry Van Horn (Laurie), Jamie Van Horn (Danna), Jennifer Young (Jason), Erin Van Horn, Michelle Shaner (Michael), Erica Melto (John), and Lisa Yeater (Eric); great-grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua and Lyla, Jacey, Jasmin, and Jaylin, Samuel, Anna, and Allison, Riley and Lola, Chrystal, Bill and Ashley, and Allison and Matthew; and brother; Earl Blackshire of Cincinnati.
Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, on Thursday from 5-8 p,m,, where the funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with Reverend Marvin S. Taylor as officiant. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
