The GFWC/OH Wintersville Woman's Club has joined forces with the GFWC Junior Clubs and the international GFWC to promote National Child Abuse Awareness Month in April through the "Pinwheels for Prevention" campaign.
Club members, from left, Linda Nolf, Nancy Honse, Barb Thermes and Judy Anastasia recently placed pinwheels outside Wintersville United Methodist Church. The pinwheel is the symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention nationwide. It represents the efforts to change the way the nation thinks about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies that prioritize prevention from the start to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur, the club women noted.
The club's next luncheon meeting is Thursday at noon at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville where Mike Hogan, OSU/Jefferson County Extension agent, will present a program on "Container Gardening."
