Linder homer powers Madonna

PARKERSBURG - The Madonna baseball team found itself down 8-7 going into the bottom of the eight against the No. 2 team in the state of West Virginia Class A, Charleston Catholic in Parkersburg Thursday.

When Logan Linder was done the Blue Dons found themselves 9-8 victors as Linder delivered a two-run, walk-off home run.

Luca Fuscardo was the pitcher of record for Madonna and picked up a double and a single. Linder had two singles and a double to go with his game winning shot. Ross Comis also had two doubles for the Blue Dons.

Madonna (10-2) is at Parkersburg Catholic today.

Weir earns comeback win

WEIRTON - The Weir baseball team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 6-5 victory over Bishop Donahue Thursday.

Zach Knuutila had a big day for the Red Riders, picking up the win on the mound after taking over in the third inning and picking up a single, double and three RBIs at the plate. Josh Russell had three singles and an RBI while Jeremy Swartzmiller and Harley Mills each had two singles and drove in a run.

Weir (4-10) is at Meadowbrook Saturday for a doubleheader.

Toronto loses by one

TORONTO - The Toronto baseball team dropped a 2-1 decison to Burgettstown Thursday at the Knight Baseball Complex.

Neither team scored after the second inning with the Red Knights picking up their run in the second and the Blue Devils getting one run in each of the first two frames.

Spenser Sninchak pitched a solid game in the loss giving up just five hits over seven innings. He also contributed a double at the plate. Ralph King and Chez Glenn each had a single for Toronto.

Toronto (8-3) is at Akron Copely for a doubleheader Saturday.

Huskies top Big Reds

CADIZ - Harrison scored in the bottom of the sixth to pull out a 4-2 win over visiting Bellaire Thursday.

Nick Pelegreen picked up the win on the hill and added a triple and two RBI at the plate. Rasheen Mitchell, Rhett Kuryn and Kalub Mitchell each had two singles for the Huskies.

Harrison Central travels to Buckeye Local today.

Redskins fall at Ferry

MARTINS FERRY - The Indian Creek baseball team was treated harshly on the road Thursday as Martins Ferry pounded out an 11-1 win.

Zach Williams had a single and drove in the Redskins lone run.

Indian Creek is at Union Local Saturday for a doubleheader.

One inning hurts Bruins

WELLSBURG - The Brooke baseball team had a 3-1 lead going into the top of the fifth when Morgantown exploded for seven runs to take control en route to an 8-1 win at Brooke.

Kelaen Welch had a single and two RBI for the Bruins. Brent Pellen had a single and drove in a run with Russell Schwertfeger adding two singles, Nick Breen a double, and Steven Jeffries a single.

Brooke (8-8) is at John Marshall today.

Crusaders beaten

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Steubenville Central baseball team gave up two big innings - five runs in the first and four in the fourth - en route to a 9-7 loss at East Liverpool Thursday.

Jimmy Panella blasted a home run for the Crusaders while Brenton Colabella added a double and single. Brannt Pieniazek had a double and Aleks Porreca a single as well.

Central (8-3) hosts Beaver Local today.
