Light exercise class offered

Janet Caprarese will conduct a Sit and Get Fit exercise class, for all ages and focused on balance and strength, at 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday, beginning April 11, at Olde St. John's Episcopal Church, Colliers.

The cost is a $2 donation to the church, which is at the intersection of Eldersville and St. John's roads. For information, call (304) 670-0081.

Spaghetti dinner to be held Friday

The Wellsburg Moose Golf League will hold a spaghetti dinner from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Moose Lodge at 844 Main St. The cost is $6, which includes pasta with meat sauce, salad, bread, dessert and coffee. Take-out is available. To place an order, call (304) 737-1552.

Church to sell lunches Thursday

Christ Episcopal Church at 1014 Main St., Wellsburg, will be selling roast beef sandwich lunches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

The cost is $6.50, which includes sandwich, chips, beverage and a slice of cherry delight cake or $4.50 for a sandwich only.

Takeout is available. Deliveries to local businesses and shut-ins can be arranged by calling (304) 737-3432 after 8:30 a.m. that day.

Wellsburg auxiliary

having bake sale

The Wellsburg American Legion Auxiliary will hold a bake sale April 19 at the Dollar General Market.

Bethany Woman's Club honored

President Helen Moren of the Bethany Woman's Club, a General Federation of Women's Clubs of West Virginia member, attended the state convention March 23-25 at the Greenbrier, where the Bethany club received numerous awards.

They included first place in international outreach, public issues partnership and leadership; second place in education partnership and 1734 Society; and third place in women's history and resources center, scholarship fund, conservation, home life partnership and international outreach partnership.

The club also received the honor and superior ribbons and was recognized as a 50-year anniversary club.

Club members participated in the March 30-31 Relay for Life, and purple pinwheels will be displayed in the community during April to symbolize the fight against child abuse.

The club also will participate in the "Step Away From Abuse" program fighting domestic violence against women.

The group will celebrate Federation Week with a coffee hour at Bethany Church April 22. The Northern District spring workshop will be held April 28 in Warwood.

Meet candidates

The Brooke County Democrat Executive Committee and Brooke County Federation of Democratic Women will host a "Meet the Candidate" event at 6:30 p.m. April 27 at the Follansbee Community House.
