Safety concerns in Indian Creek

March 3, 2012
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

It has come to my attention that Indian Creek School District wants to build a new high school. There are a few concerns about the building and the safety of the students. The building is falling apart and is too small for all the students in the school.

First, the school is too small for the 600-plus students who come here. We have portables for some of our classes, and the rooms are too small. Since the portables are off by themselves, there is a higher chance of abduction. We also get exposed to the weather and have a higher chance of getting sick. The hallways are also very crowded. Since the school was built in 1947, it is not equipped to hold the present student body.

The building has other issues. It needs updates and improvements for today's technology. Even the state of Ohio agrees that this building needs to be replaced. The school's foundation is cracking and there is limited space for the students.

On Tuesday, please vote "yes" for the students of Indian Creek.
