Chance to join AMVETS

March 3, 2012
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

My name is Dan Wilson, and I'm the commander of AMVETS Post 275 in Steubenville. I would like to pass along news of a limited time free membership being offered by AMVETS National.

What is the offer? From now through March 31, any honorably serving or discharged veteran of active duty, reserves or National Guard who has served since Sept. 15, 1944, may sign up to receive an At-Large AMVETS Membership, good through the end of 2012. Benefits of AMVETS membership may be viewed at www.amvets.org and include a quarterly subscription to American Veteran Magazine and member discounts on hotels, vehicle rentals and more.

What is an at-large membership? An at-large membership means you're a member of the AMVETS National organization, but are not assigned to a local post. Near the end of August, you will receive membership renewal documents that will give you the choice to renew your at- large membership, renew and transfer your membership to a local post or allow your membership to expire. Of course, we hope you'll choose to join Post 275 once you've had a taste of what AMVETS National is doing and what we're doing locally.

How can you take advantage of the offer? Go to ovvets.org/AMVETS-Free-Membership.php and sign up on the web. You can also send an e-mail stating your interest to amvetspost275@gmail.com, and I'll be glad to send you application materials. Still have some questions? Give me a call at (740) 317-8646.

We feel this is a great opportunity to see what AMVETS is all about and get a glimpse of what we're doing locally. I invite you to take advantage of the offer and will be the first to welcome you as new AMVETS member.

Dan Wilson

Commander

AMVETS Post 275
