St. Peter CWC plans card party

The St. Peter Catholic Woman's Club met Feb. 14 in the church hall with Brother Patrick Geary leading in the opening and closing prayers.

Beverly Kidwell and Casey McDonald were hostesses.

Plans were finalized for a card party to be held April 22, which will include prizes, a bake sale, a 50/50 drawing and lunch.

It was decided that volunteers would be sent to help serve at the Rite of Election at Holy Name Cathedral on Sunday.

The next CWC meeting will be March 6 with Lidia Kontra and Betty Welsch as hostesses.

Bell Chapel United Methodist Church at 3419 state Route 213, Steubenville, will host a session of GriefShare, a grief recovery support group, beginning March 3 and continuing through May 26.

The sessions are from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and will be led by Carol Dillon.

GriefShare is a nondenominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. It is a "special seminar and support group for people grieving the loss of somsone close," Dillon explained. It offers a sense of community, understanding, support and encouragement, according to promotional literature. Participants are welcome to begin attending the group at any session.

Kum Joyne Us Class meets

The Kum Joyne Us Class of Kolmont Church met Feb. 3 in the fellowship hall with nine members and one guest attending.

Deanna Price gave the blessing for the covered-dish dinner.

Shirley McCartney, president, presided at the meeting where Sharon McGraw led devotions on "Love" and read "Life Is All About Love."

McCartney and Chelsea Stofen read Romans 8:1-39.

Alice Brandon closed devotions with prayer. Those attending answered roll call with a scripture verse.

Reports were given by Sharlene Wade, Alice Brandon and Lora Grimes, who gave the project fund report. The next meeting is March 2. It will be a covered dish dinner.

McCartney closed the meeting with prayer and led the auction.

Calvary Full Gospel Assembly at 156 Woodmont Ave. in Pottery Addition has changed its worship services to 2 p.m. on Sundays.

The church will feature a singspiration on the third Sunday of the month while the first and third Sunday of the month will feature a movie and snacks at 2 p.m. The church has installed a chairlift for those entering the fellowship hall, according to Pastor Phil Yocum.

Niagara Falls trip

Mount Zion Baptist Church, 221 N. Seventh St., Steubenville, is sponsoring a bus trip to Niagara Falls, Buffalo, N.Y., on June 9.

Cost is $65 per person with a $35 deposit due March 9 and the balance due April 20. The bus will leave Mount Zion at 5:30 a.m. and depart Niagara Falls at 8 p.m. No passport is needed.

The trip will include restaurant stops and a visit to a 150-store outlet shopping mall.

St. Mark Lutheran to host screening

St. Mark Lutheran Church, 133 Lovers Lane, Steubenville, will host a Life Line Screening on March 8.

Screenings identify potential cardiovascualr conditions. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk also is offered.
