Oak Glen rolls past Magnolia

NEW CUMBERLAND - The Oak GLen girls basketball team advanced to the West Virginia Class AA, Region I, Section I final with a 45-30 win over Magnolia Tuesday at Oak Glen High School.

Oak Glen was paced by the duo of Payden Eckleberry and Vanessa Hissam who scored 19 points each. Hissam was dominant on the boards as well, pulling down 16 rebounds. Eckleberry contributed with seven rebounds.

Mallory Chapman and Dallas Mullett each scored 10 to lead the Blue Eagles.

The Golden Bears host Tyler Consolidated Friday for the Class AA, Region I, Section I title.

Weir's season ends

SISTERSVILLE - The Weir girls basketball team lost 54-47 to Tyler Consolidated in West Virginia Class AA, Region I, Section I play Tuesday at Tyler Consolidated High School.

The Red Riders held a 39-34 lead after three quarters, but the Silver Knights rode the strength of a 20-8 fourth quarter advantage to the Region I, Section I final at Oak Glen Friday.

Weir was led by Alyssa Shingle's 13 points with Raegan Stead contributing 12. Also pitching in were Taylor Gianangeli with eight, Madison Dalrymple with seven,a nd Shelva Burns with six. Burns led the Red Riders with 11 rebounds with Gianangeli pulling down seven.

Sophie Kinnard led Tyler Consolidated with 32 points with Torrye Cline joining her in double-digits with 12.

Royals advance

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. - The Jefferson County Christian School boys basketball team outlasted Wilson Christian School to win 52-48 on the road in overtime in the quarterfinals of the SouthWestern Christian Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Royals were topped by Wes Seabright's 21 points. Seabright was joined in double figures by Morgan Millhorn with 12 points. Garrison Mathison contributed eight to the cause.

JCCS will play Portersville Christian School at PCS at 6 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.
