Toronto to hold Pony sign-ups
TORONTO - Toronto Pony 13- and 14 year-old baseball registrations will be held Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Toronto High School Hitting facility. The cost is $30 and players are to bring a copy of their birth certificate.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Wheeling Central used stifling defense Saturday to beat Shadyside 37-34 for the Class 2A title in the Wheeling Hospital Girls Basketball Championships at Ohio University-Eastern.
The Maroon Knights held a 19-11 lead at halftime, but the Tigers came back with a 9-2 advantage in the third quarter to trail 21-20 with eight minutes left.
Wheeling Central closed the deal behind 13 points from Emily Bucon and 12 from Colleen McCormick.

Fort Frye tops Monroe Central
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Firt Frye scored 14 conseuctive points to blow the game open en route to a 50-34 victory Saturday for the Class 3A crown in the Wheeling Hospital Girls Basketball Championships at Ohio University-Eastern. It is the school's sixth OVAC title and second in the last three years.
Monroe Central made their fourth appearance in the tournament and is now 2-2.
Fort Frye's defense was outstanding, limiting Monroe Central to 36 percent shooting. And in turning up the heat, the Lady Cadets were whistled for only four personal fouls and Monroe Central shot just two foul shots.
Diedra led the winners with a game-high 20 points.

Patriots rally to beat Mohigans
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Wheeling Park rallied late on Saturday to beat Morgantown 68-62 in overtime for the Class 5A title in the Wheeling Hospital Girls Basketball Championships at Ohio University-Eastern. It was the Patriots' third win over the Mohigans this season.
Wheeling Park's Haley Robb was a perfect 10 for 10 from the free throw line for 15 points and Emily Puskarich netted a game-high 22 points in the victory. They were joined by 10 points each from Marissa Tucker and Kambrea O'Neal.
