It’s time for playoffs

The high school football playoffs begin today in Ohio and are a week away in West Virginia.

Oak Glen finished its season a week ago with an outstanding 9-1 record and now waits to learn its playoff fate.

Brooke seeks a return to the postseason with a win over visiting Morgantown and some help.

Madonna looks for a win over host Clay-Battelle for a chance to host a playoff game.

Weir High continues to hunt for its first win of the season against one-win Tyler Consolidated. Here's a look at today's games:

Indian Creek at Big Red, 7:30

Make no mistake, the Redskins are a really good football team and do not visit Harding Stadium by accident.

They have won six in a row and the two losses are from teams that are a combined 18-1.

Coach Andrew Connor's squad is 20-9 since its last visit to Harding, which came in Week 1 of the 2009 season.

Indian Creek is making its first playoff appearance since 1996 and won its first Buckeye 8 football title in school history.

The Redskins are basically playing their seventh-straight playoff game because it has been win-or-stay-home since starting the year 2-2.

Big Red, obviously, is no slouch, winning another Associated Press Division III title and is the Region 11 No. 1 seed for a reason.

Steubenville had a nice, relaxing game a week ago and the rest was needed.

Death Valley should be loud and proud on every side of the stadium.

Indian Creek is a well-rounded team and Big Red will be the quickest team the Redskins have faced since the last time they played Steubenville.

Morgantown at Brooke, 7 p.m.

The Bruins must win this one and get some help to play next week.

After a bad start, Brooke has found its stride since the second half of the loss to Wheeling Park.

The running game has been good, but the passing game may be the key tonight.

In addition the Bruins have to keep a Mohigan team in check whose two losses are to Big Red and Martinsburg, both undefeated.

Madonna at

Clay-Battelle, 7:30

Although the Blue Dons are shorthanded, a chance to host a playoff game is in the balance.

A win and a game at Jimmy Carey Stadium is staring them in the face. A loss and, hi-ho, hi-ho it's to the playoff road they go.

A team can only ask for a chance, and this is Madonna's chance.

Weir at Tyler

The Red Riders need 48 minutes of everything to have a chance to win, because the Silver Knights sure are not going to hand them a win. Tyler Consolidated won its first game of the season last week and now Weir High looks to do the same. The numbers are up for the Red Riders.
