WHEELING -The parishioners of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church are hosting the 11th-annual Grecian Food Festival from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Since 2000, the community of St. John the Divine has hosted a multi-day Grecian Food Festival.

Each year, the committee tries to provide something new for faithful patrons. In addition to live authentic Greek music provided by Soteri and his Orchestra on Friday and Saturday and the performances of the Agape dancers, there will be entertainment provided by parishioners and open mike opportunities today. Festival-goers will find entertainment for children and young adults, including a chance to tackle Rockin' Acropolis or climb up Mount Olympus.

In addition to outdoor casual dining, full dinner entrees are available in the Hellenic Center Hall. The choices will include chicken, sausage, lamb, pork ka-bobs or fish. Also available will be a wide selection of homemade Greek pastries. Only food items authentic to the Greek culture are being offered.

The festival will include a Greek market with a variety of imported items, including a Greek jewelry shop with a selection of beautiful imported gold and silver jewelry and the St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Book. Tickets for a chance to win money or electronic prizes and a separate drawing for a hand-made bird cage will be available.

St. John the Divine offers a Greek language school for adults and children, and the course includes the study of the culture and the faith. Interested individuals may sign up at the Greek language school table in the Hellenic Center Hall.

The sanctuary will be open during festival hours, and those attending are encouraged to take a self-guided tour, relax in a church pew, listen to Byzantine chants and study the icons.
