The 2011 officers of the Jefferson County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society are Gail Komar, treasurer; Flora VerStraten, president; Ed "Buddy" Merrin, head trustee; Cathy Dillon, secretary; Gordon Grafton, trustee; Phil Flenniken, trustee; and Janet Petrella, vice president.
The Jefferson County Genealogical Chapter headquarters is located at 100 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, across from the former Wintersville Elementary School. Business hours are Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fall and winter events free and open to the public include a presentation Sept. 17 by Virginia Kerr speaking on the Civil War with the program to begin at 10 a.m., and an overview of the history of the Knoxville area by Bill Bray. He will be the Christmas luncheon speaker at a date and location to be announced.
Volunteers are needed for chapter county projects, including the probate packets project and the World War II Battle of the Bulge project.
