Editorial: Maintaining positive attitude a great lesson for everyone

The Herald-Star

Edward Littlejohn of the Academy of Tae Kwo Do in Wintersville recently visited Wintersville Elementary School to explain to pupils how to keep a positive attitude about school and life in general.

He expressed that the students attitude will determine their altitude. How high and how successful they want to be in life, they must keep a positive attitude. If negative attitudes take over, they won't be very successful.

He also told them that it is important to be respectful to their teachers, parents and law enforcement officials.

It is important for younger children to be respectful to any adult and most parents will teach their kids such a lesson.

The students were also given a discipline pencil, to never be sharpened, but to serve as a constant reminder to focus on being the best that they can be.

This demonstration has become an annual event at the school. It is nice to see the pupils be so active and attentive during such a program. Littlejohn really grasped the students interest and taught an important lesson.

In this day and age when negatives are surrounding all of us, it is nice to have a person deliver a positive message to remember us to keep that smile and great attitude even through tough times.

Hats off to Littlejohn for creating such a program and to the school for allowing him to express this message to their pupils.
