Kroger has new fuel center at Hollywood Plaza store

November 4, 2010
From staff reports

STEUBENVILLE - A new Kroger Fuel Center has opened at the Hollywood Plaza Kroger store.

Brian Macaulay, president of the Kroger's Columbus Division, announced the fuel center opening and said, "individuals who spend $100 or more at participating Kroger stores and present their Kroger Plus card save 10 cents at the pump instantly, with the savings applying to a maximum of 35 gallons per fill-up."

Customers may earn unlimited points during a single month, collecting one point for every dollar they spend on qualifying purchases. Fuel points may accrue for up to a $1 per gallon savings on a single fill-up at any Kroger Fuel Center, Macaulay said.

"We understand that customers are usually pressed for time and the new Kroger Fuel Center at the Steubenville store provides customers the convenience of filling up their vehicles when they purchase their groceries. The opening of this latest Kroger Fuel Center coincides with Kroger's new fuel program, which allows customers to enjoy greater savings per gallon as soon as they earn sufficient points," Macaulay explained.

Customers earn Fuel Points on most items they buy when they use their Kroger Plus Card while shopping at participating stores. To help shoppers build up their savings, Kroger offers additional Fuel Points when customers purchase prescriptions or gift cards at Kroger, Macaulay noted. Fifty Fuel Points are awarded for each eligible filled prescription, with two Fuel Points provided for every dollar spent on third-party gift cards from Kroger's in-store gift card malls.

Fuel Points are automatically added to Kroger Plus Card accounts and are reflected on customers' grocery receipts after every purchase. Customers also may look online on their "My Kroger" page at to check how many Fuel Points they have earned.

"Kroger customers choose how much they will save when they go to the pump based on the points they have earned," Macaulay said. "A prompt at the pump will ask customers whether they want to redeem their points then or wait until later when they can save up to one dollar per gallon based on how much they spend at Kroger."

The new Kroger Fuel Center at the Steubenville store is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. This station joins other area Kroger Fuel Centers at the Wintersville, Weirton and Wellsburg locations.
