July 24, 2010
From staff reports

WHEELING - Three local teens were among 22 young women from high schools throughout the Ohio Valley competing Friday for the title of 2010 Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Queen of Queens.

The five winners of the pageant, which was held Friday at WesBanco Arena, will be announced at halftime during the OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Football Classic.

The game will begin at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at Wheeling Island Stadium.

Competing in the pageant were: Timothi Williams of Brooke High School, Mary Pietranton of Weirton Madonna High School and Samantha Buffo of Weir High School.

The three were winners of competitions at their respective schools, where they were judged on poise, talent and presentation as well as past honors and extracurricular activities.

The daughter of Tim and Tammy Williams of Colliers, Williams played "Moonlight Sonata" on piano for the talent portion of the local competition.

The OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Football Classic will pit players from high schools on both sides of the river against each other.

Tom Bruney, head football coach at Brooke, the West Virginia Mountaineers, and Ron Pobolish, who retired last year as head football coach at Buckeye Local, will coach the Ohio Buckeyes.

The players and queens will be introduced at a pep rally for the game to be held at 6 p.m. today at West Liberty University's Russek Field. The OVAC All-Star Band and OVAC All-Star Cheerleaders, also formed from area students, will perform.
