Lynford L. ‘Wimpy’ Cathers

CATHERS, Lynford L. "Wimpy," 83 of Annapolis, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, in the Dixon Health Care Center, Wintersville.

He was born in Corry, Pennsylvania on July 3, 1926, a son of the late Raymond and Inez Belle King Cathers. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Earl Raymond Cathers.

He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, and worked as a grinder operator for Timken Co. in Canton, Ohio, for 36 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Annapolis Presbyterian Church and the Unionport Masonic Lodge, F&AM No. 333.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Myers Mader) Cathers; by two stepsons, James Mader and wife Donna of Annapolis, and Richard L. Mader and his wife Florence of Amsterdam; a stepdaughter, Jill Mahy and husband Kenneth of West Liberty, W.Va.; a sister, Harriet Cline and husband, Morris of East Springfield; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond, on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. with The Rev. Wilford Simeral officiating.

Entombment will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
