Vada Irene Tipton Peterson

PETERSON, Vada Irene Tipton, 84, of Unionport, Wintersville and Aurora, Ohio, died November 30, 2009 after a long and loving life.

She was born in Unionport August 14, 1925, daughter of the late Olen Archie and Katherine (Kroskey) Tipton.

She taught school in Hopedale and Wintersville for 35 years, retiring in 1982, and was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Unionport and Wintersville Methodist Church and Unionport Grange 2728.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Dean Peterson; and in-laws, Marion and Neola Peterson.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Tipton Korner of Aurora, where she lived for the past 12 years; nephews, Keith (Suzanne) Korner and Kraig Korner of Aurora; four brothers-in-law; and 31 nieces and nephews from the Peterson family.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with burial following in the Unionport Cemetery.
