Camp seeking donations for repairs

The Toronto Band fathers are seeking donations for repairs needed at Toronto Band camp, including roof and equipment repairs, painting and electrical system upgrades. The camp is maintained with volunteer help. For information about making a donation, call John Hartline at (740) 81-8520 or Ken Mushrush at (740) 537-4264.

Association plans Christmas concert

The Toronto Ministerial Association will host a Christmas concert beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the First United Methodist Church.

The gospel groups Friends and Power Surge are slated to perform. A love offering will be taken with all donations to go to the His Hands Extended Toronto food pantry.

Fellowship and refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Play and Learn set for library branch

Play and learn will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the Toronto Branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County.

Play and learn is for a caregiver and children up to age 3.

Toys are set up in a room for children and parents to interact. Registration isn't required.

Bus trip to St. Clairsville Dec. 16

Arrangements are being made for a bus trip to the St. Clairsville Mall and Mehlman's restaurant for dinner.

The bus will leave Toronto at 10 a.m. on Dec. 16 and will return about 6:30 p.m. The cost is $4 with a minimum of 15 riders.

Activities set for North River church

Upcoming activities at the North River Avenue Christian Church include:

Dec. 13 - The white gift and youth Christmas musical will begin at 9:45 a.m. All church caroling begins at 6 p.m. A sign-up sheet is posted on the church bulletin board. Two groups will be caroling at nursing homes and homes of shut-ins. Refreshments will be served after by Paul Cunningham and Ed Rex.

Dec. 24 - The Christmas cantata will begin at 7 p.m. The theme is "Glorious Impossible." All are welcome.

The junior church worship program for those ages 5 through fourth grade has begun. All youth go directly to the junior worship area downstairs.

The service begins at 9:45 a.m. Sundays.

Designated adults will lead along with Rob Minto.

Monday - Bible study will be at 6 p.m. The quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. The trustees will meet at 7 p.m.

Tuesday - Bible study will be at 10 a.m. The faith fellowship will meet at noon. The Adventure Club will meet from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Wednesday - The caring crafters will meet at 6 p.m. The choir will practice at 7 p.m.

Friday - Take Off Pounds Sensibly will meet at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday - A special sub-committee and council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 20 - A children's service, along with the pastor's sermon, will be followed by the children's Christmas party in fellowship hall.

The Riverview paper drive is the third Saturday of each month, while the ecumenical men's dinner is the third Monday of each month.

The Toronto Unit of the Salvation Army is in the church and is open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Those needing hats or mittens should call the Salvation Army at (740) 537-4737.

The Salvation Army's Prescription Assistance Program is available from 10 a.m. to noon on the first Thursday of each month. For information, call (740) 537-2210.

Holiday decorations sought for Toronto library branch

Businesses and organizations are invited to donate a decorated centerpiece, wreath or tree up to 4 feet that will be auctioned at the Toronto branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. This will be a silent auction to benefit the library. The deadline for entries is Monday. Items will be on display through Dec. 19 for customers to place bids. Bids will be awarded on Dec. 21.
