Prison ordered in meth charges

November 18, 2009 - By MARK LAW, staff writer

STEUBENVILLE - A man and woman were sentenced Monday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. for possessing chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Timothy S. Rose, 32, pleaded guilty to illegal manufacturing of drugs, complicity to manufacture drugs, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs and conspiracy to illegal assembly or possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs.

Shawna Crawford, 30, of Irondale was charged the same as Rose, but the charges were reduced to one count of possession of drugs.

Police received information from a confidential informant that Rose had chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Saline Township Police pulled Rose over on Aug. 1 for a traffic violation and discovered the chemicals in the vehicle.

Crawford was a passenger in the vehicle.

Rose was sentenced to two years in prison on Aug. 7 after pleading guilty to one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

In that case, Rose purchased Sudafed and assembled or possessed other chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Rose brought the chemicals to a home on state Route 213, Toronto.

Bruzzese on Monday sentenced Rose to five years in prison, which will be served concurrently to the two years on the previous case.

Crawford was sentenced to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center. She will be on probation for three years.
