TORONTO - Gem City residents selected three individuals to serve a four-year term on the Toronto City School's Board of Education during the Nov. 3 election.

According to unofficial results from the Jefferson County Board of Education, Robert Reeves and incumbents Tim Starr and Larry Davidson were chosen to serve on the school board in January. Also running in the election was incumbent Kyle Brown, who received 849 votes.

Reeves, who resides at 511 N. River Ave., received 1,079 votes, or 28 percent. He said he is grateful to voters for supporting him and also for supporting the replacement school levy.

"We need to retain our identity and expand our educational programs to offer the best education possible," Reeves said. "Voters can be reassured that I will always strive and seek to do what is best for my alma mater."

Starr of 408 N. River Ave. state he is thankful for two things - support of the school levy and for voters believing in him enough to allow him to continue serving the district for another four years.

He said the levy's passage "means a lot in keeping the school system in tact." He obtained 7,076 votes, or 28 percent, results showed.

The unofficial results indicated Davidson, who resides at 409 N. River Ave., received 881 votes, or 23 percent.

Davidson said he was thankful for everyone who voted for him in this "close election."

He commented there were four qualified candidates running for the positions and thanked Brown for being a "great asset and board member during his term."
