WINTERSVILLE - Three incumbents and a write-in candidate have gained enough votes in Tuesday's general election for Wintersville Village Council.

Robert Martin, Sr. of 360 Canton Road led the Wintersville council race with 295 votes or 22.78 percent, followed by write-in candidate Bob Merriman of 433 Eisenhower Road with 283 votes or 21.85 percent; Robert Cochrun of 153 Garden Drive with 282 votes or 21.78 percent; and Jason Mattern of 173 Meadow Road with 273 votes or 21.90 percent, according to unofficial results from the Jefferson County Board of Elections.

Matt Parise of 215 South Avalon Drive came in fifth place with 162 votes or 12.51 percent.

"I want to thank the people of Wintersville for giving me the opportunity to serve them again," Martin said. "It is an honor to be able to make things happen in the community. I am willing to do whatever it takes to keep our village moving forward and willingly accept any ideas for the progress of our community."

"I am very excited to keep our community moving in the right direction," Mattern said. "I want to thank my family, friends, neighbors and community members for their support. I also want to give a big thanks to my biggest supporter, my daughter Jocelyn."

"This feels great to be elected to another four years on council," Cochrun said. "I want to thank all the people that voted for me. I will do the best job I know possible for the residents of Wintersville."

"I want to thank the residents of the village for letting me serve them for the next four years," Merriman said. "I also want to thank all of those who worked with me on my campaign, I wouldnt have been able to do it without them. I also want to congratulate the other four councilmen, I look forward to working with each of them for the next four years."
