TORONTO - City Police are seeking a man who robbed a city pharmacy at gunpoint Tuesday morning.

The brazen daytime robbery occurred at about 11 a.m. Tuesday when a man brandishing a gun robbed a clerk at gunpoint at the Apothecary Pharmacy, 1361 Franklin Ave., according to police Detective Charlie Daniels.

"The suspect walked in and approached a customer at the counter," said Daniels. "He pointed the gun at her and told the (customer), 'Give me some meth.' At that point he yelled at the clerk that he wanted some methadone.

Daniels said the clerk then approached the robber, but was stopped and told to throw the methadone to the suspect. The suspect them fled the store on foot, and witnesses described him running past a car wash and apartment building in the vicinity, Daniels said.

The suspect was described as a white male between the ages of 18 to 25, approximately 6-feet tall, wearing a dark hoodie and light-colored blue jeans, said the detective.

"We have some evidence that was collected at the scene," Daniels added.

Daniels said police were following leads on the suspect's identity. A video of the robbery also was posted on the online video site Youtube.com by the stores owner Tuesday.

The Apothecary Pharmacy has been the target of several break-ins in recent months, but this was the first armed robbery when the store was open. City Police are asking anyone with information to call the department, at (740) 537-1591.
