Village announces Halloween events

The annual Wintersville Halloween party will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at Wintersville Elementary School.

A harvest maze will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 at Walnut Street Park.

Also, the village special events crew is sponsoring a Halloween house decorating contest, which will be judged Wednesday, according to officials. Prizes will be awarded in four categories: Spookiest, most creative, best use of natural elements and mayor's choice.

Blood drive planned for Thursday

The American Red Cross Jefferson County Chapter will hold a blood drive and ice cream social from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Wintersville United Methodist Church.

The event is being sponsored by the outreach committee of the church, according to officials.

Those on the committee will make special sundaes following blood donations.

Donors should weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health.

Church hosts bereavement group

A bereavement support group, led by the members of Two Ridges Presbyterian Church at 1085 Canton Road and Charity Hospice Director Debbie Yoklic, meets at 11 a.m. the third Thursday of each month.

Members of the community are invited to attend. The next meeting will be held Nov. 19 at the church.

Hot lunch served at Two Ridges

Join the members of Two Ridges Presbyterian Church at 1085 Canton Road for fellowship and food from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the church fellowship hall. Hot, home-cooked meals and desserts are provided by the ladies of the church.

The public is invited to attend and stay as long as they like.

Society to hold registration

The St. Vincent dePaul Society of the Wintersville Catholic Parishes will hold general registration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the society's food pantry, 852 Main St., Wintersville.

Residents of Wintersville and Bloomingdale and registered active member of the parishes who live in surrounding areas may apply. The registration is for Thanksgiving and Christmas and regular monthly food distributions from January through October.
