Eloy Campa
CAMPA, Eloy "Tubby," 86, of Lange loth, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, in Consulate Health Care, of North Strabane.
He was born January 19, 1923, in Idamay, W.Va., a son of the late Joseph and Bibiana Lopez Campa.
Mr. Campa served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He retired in 1984 from Wheeling-Pitt Steel in Follansbee, W.Va., where he worked in the Coke Plant.
He was a member of the Slovan VFW Post 6553 and enjoyed playing cards, especially poker.
He is preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by four brothers, Arthur, Manuel, Louie and Raul Campa; and one sister, Josephine Campa.
His wife Wilma Jean King Campa, whom he married on December 15, 1951, survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Ernest Eloy Campa and his wife, Diana of Langeloth, Larry Lee Campa and his wife, Judy of Sarasota, Fla., Kevin Eugene Campa and his wife, Marci of Burgettstown; two daughters, Christine Lynn Capozzoli and her husband, George of Edinboro; and Carol Jean Reid and her husband, James of Northfield, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Melinda Coffey and husband, Ian; Nathan Daniel and Madison Lynn Campa; Nicholas, Anthony and Michelle Capozzoli, Taylor and Kaylee Reid; two sisters, Alice Campbell wife of the late Art of Burgettstown, and Sera Truax and husband, Bob of Langeloth; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday in the Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Ave., Burgettstown where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday October 3, 2009.
Interment with full military honors accorded by the Burgettstown and Slovan VFW/American Legion Honor Guard will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
