Bethany Scenic Byway Committee reviews progress on transportation grantAugust 15, 2009WELLSBURG - The Historic Wellsburg and Bethany Scenic Byway Committee met Aug. 6 at the Brooke County Public Library to review progress on the $80,000 federal highway transportation grant received by the Brooke County Commission. The grant application provides funding to establish a corridor management plan for the designated byway, which extends from Brooke Hills Park on state Route 27 through Wellsburg and to Bethany. Local artist and committee member Amy Van Horn provided sample logo sketches for the byway, while engineers from Baker Engineering suggested mission statements to the byway committee. The Historic Wellsburg and Bethany Scenic Byway Committee will be meeting again in a few weeks to review the draft corridor management plan prepared by Baker Engineering. Individuals interested in learning more about the project or participating with the scenic byway committee in the development of a plan to develop the designated corridor should contact the Brooke County West Virginia University Extension Office at (304) 737-3666. |
