Council introduces legislation

8:45 p.m. Steubenville City Council Tuesday proposed legislation to buy two downtown lots and to proceed with the construction of a new city building.
Sixth Ward Councilman David Lalich proposed an ordinance to enter into a design-build contract for $4.1 million with The Cattrell Construction Company for the new city building.
Lalich also proposed the city prepare for the issuance of $3.5 million in notes to fund the new building.
Fourth Ward Councilman David Fortunato introduced an ordinance to allow the city to pay $100,000 for the former Grant School site on South Fourth Street.
And Fortunato also proposed two ordinances to advertise for bids for preliminary engineering work on the Washington Street rehabilitation project and to allow the city manager to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for the project.
Third Ward Councilman Greg Metcalf introduced legislation that will authorize the city to purchase the parking lot at South Fourth Street and Adams Street.
