Betty J. Browning

BROWNING, Betty J., 74, of Steubenville, Ohio, went into the loving arms of God on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in her home.

She was born December 10, 1934, in Tiltonsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Brown) Kirkland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Browning on February 23, 2000; a brother, Stanley Kirkland and a sister, Jeanette Singleton.

Betty was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon and sang in the choir.

She was a former volunteer for the Urban Mission in Steubenville; a member of the Burgettstown Senior Citizens Club and delivered meals on wheels in Burgettstown. Betty was a pro dart thrower and especially loved her two grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, David Browning of Minerva, Pa.; two daughters, Jayme L. Browning and Kimberly H. Barrett both of Steubenville; a sister, Norma (Calvin) Motte of Simpsonville, S.C.; two grandchildren, Brandey J. Browning and her fiancee, Terry Welling and Tyler P. Barrett; and her dear friend, Jack Davis of Langloft, PA.

As per Betty's request there will be no visitation.

Friends will be received on Saturday at the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church from 11 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at noon, with the Rev. Dr. Stan Fedyszyn, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Mingo First United Presbyterian Church, 650 McLister Ave., Mingo Jct., OH 43938.

Arrangements were entrusted to Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo.
