Church to host kids club

POSTED: October 3, 2008

The United Presbyterian Church of Follansbee is hosting a kids club, meeting generally on Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., once or twice each month in the church fellowship hall. It is geared towards children in second through sixth grade, but no one will be turned away.

Children do not have to attend church to be involved with the club. A spokesman said the purpose of the club is to serve as an inspirational tool for students to relax and enjoy being themselves in a Christian environment.

Activities are planned to boost self-esteem and self-awareness. Games will be played to promote caring, sharing and learning teamwork.

All events associated with KWS are free. Most activities will take place in the fellowship hall on Banfield Avenue. There also will be fun-day outings and community service projects. Parents who want their children to participate should call Shelby Barnhart, coordinator, at (304) 527-4033 or e-mail her @ Tiggr4too@comcast.net.

The kickoff event will be a Halloween party Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. Reservation deadline is Oct. 10.
